I bought and read this box set some time ago. Thought I reviewed it, but I guess not. Ilana reminds me of Shayne Silvers or a very young Jim Butcher (with far more snark). This series has just about everything in the mix in the magical line, from witches and vampires to a wizard (mage), and demons and even friends with explosive talents! Just about the time you think they've got the problem solved, something else pops up to mar the peace and quiet of the moment (and moments are about all they get between dealing with crises. I really like the snark--what can you do with a family like Joshua's and situations he gets into? Besides, humor makes anything go down better, and this is like sprinkling shaved chocolate on top of a mocha latte--just the little bit extra. I intend to get everything I can that Ilana writes, particularly in the Mage Tales universe (she's working on another, I hear). It's going to be hard to wait for it. But I think I'll do what I seldom do with a series, I'll reread Mage Tales to enjoy it again. It won't be quite as new, but it will still be a great read--she's that good and there's that much action and that many characters in the books to warrant a very pleasurable second-time read.Product details

This was great. I don't usually read these type of book but these were fantastic reading full of suspense and intrigue. It was hard to put down.
This set of books kept me enthralled from book one through book three. I hope there will soon be more to come.
A fantastic set of books with humorous with fast paced adventure. The books were entertaining and really delightful. I look forward to more of Me Water's works.
This trio of stories was very good. It was entertaining and kept my interest. The characters were certainty novel and original.
I read this series last year and I loved it. The characters kept me coming back for more, I was so sad when I read the last page of the last book. I highly recommend it, you won't be sorry.

Joshua, family and friends are wonderfully created characters, they have a depth that is hard to achieve.
All 3 books were very well written and the stories flowed seamlessly.
I'd love to see more of Joshua if the author has it in her to create more difficulties for him and his family to overcome!
This is such a fun and captivating series that I read it very quickly. Joshua the Mage is a great character with a hilarious and dysfunctional supernatural family that keeps the series alive mad fresh! I enjoyed it thoroughly and hope for more books in this series soon!
